“Deny, Depose, Defend”

The CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, was shot to death in Manhattan as he walked to a shareholder meeting on December 4, 2024. Recovered at the scene of the shooting were three shell casings with the words “deny,” “delay,” and “depose” written on them - a phrase commonly linked with practices by health insurance companies to deny their policyholders’ claims. Since the arrest of Luigi Mangione as a suspect in Thompson’s slaying, graffiti reading some variation of “delay, deny, depose” has popped up in cities across the country, including here in Las Vegas. The offices of UnitedHealthcare in Las Vegas were tagged with the words “Deny, Depose, Defend” this past week.
